A high-quality breakaway went clear after a fast start, but UAE Team Emirates XRG kept the stage under control on the climbs. Tadej Pogačar then attacked on Puerto El Bartolo and was joined by Enric Mas before the finish in Castellón.
The pair worked together to stay clear on the run-in, and Pogačar won the sprint for his third stage victory of the race. Ramses Debruyne led the chasers home, with Primož Roglič, Felix Gall and Richard Carapaz among the riders in the next group.
