Blanka Vas (SD Worx-Protime) said on Instagram on Tuesday that she has been forced to stop training because of ongoing health problems and that her immediate focus is on recovery.

The 24-year-old, who is the reigning Hungarian road champion, will not start the Hungarian national road championships this weekend meaning she will not defend the title she last won in June 2025, and has held since 2020 when she first won as an 18-year-old.

"The past month did not go as planned," Vas said in her post. "I had to stop training because of health problems. Unfortunately, I also cannot participate in the national road championships this coming weekend. Right now, it is all about my recovery."

Vas has not raced since the Vuelta a Burgos Féminas, which finished on 24 May. Her absence from competition now stretches to a full month, with no return date in sight. The Hungarian national road race is scheduled for 28 June.

Her spring had shown good form before the results became more inconsistent. The high point came at the Trofeo Alfredo Binda on 15 March, where Vas finished fourth after taking the sprint from the chase group, 47 seconds behind the three-rider front group won by Karlijn Swinkels (UAE Team ADQ), despite being caught in a crash at the 90km mark.

After Binda, Vas's results dropped. She finished 60th at Milano-Sanremo on 21 March, a relatively strong 17th at Paris-Roubaix Femmes on 12 April, then 66th at the Tour of Flanders on 5 April, and 22nd at the Amstel Gold Race on 19 April. She then rode the Itzulia Women in mid-May before completing the Vuelta a Burgos Féminas as her final race before the break.

No further details about the nature of Vas's health problems have been disclosed. Her recovery timeline remains open and we wish her a speedy return to health.
