Demi Vollering

Vollering grew up in Pijnacker as the eldest of four, in a family with roots in horticulture, and trained and worked as a florist. Speed skating was her sport first, raced at national level in the Netherlands, and the bike stayed a hobby until a cycling trip through the Ardennes turned it into the plan. She rode as an amateur for SwaboLadies.nl in 2018 and was twenty-two by the time she started her first professional season, at Parkhotel Valkenburg.

Her first big win came at Liège-Bastogne-Liège in 2021, taken in a sprint from a four-rider group that also contained Annemiek van Vleuten, Elisa Longo Borghini and Katarzyna Niewiadoma. In 2023 she won all three Ardennes classics in the same April, the Amstel Gold Race, Flèche Wallonne and Liège, having already won Strade Bianche on the Tuscan gravel in March.

She finished second to van Vleuten at the 2022 Tour de France Femmes and won the mountains classification there. A year later she won the race outright, taking a stage on the way. In 2024 she won the Rotterdam time trial and the stage to Alpe d'Huez and still ended the Tour four seconds behind Niewiadoma, the narrowest winning margin the race has produced.

She won the overall at La Vuelta Femenina in 2024. Her best result at the road World Championships is the silver medal in Glasgow in 2023, seven seconds down on her SD Worx teammate Lotte Kopecky, two weeks after the pair had finished first and second at the Tour. She rode four seasons at SD Worx before joining FDJ-SUEZ in 2025.

The move produced a second Strade Bianche in March 2025 and a second La Vuelta Femenina. At the Tour de France Femmes she was second once more, three minutes and forty-two seconds down on Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, and she finished seventh at the World Championships.
