Cian Uijtdebroeks

Uijtdebroeks came through the Belgian junior ranks with Acrog-Balen, winning the junior edition of Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne with a solo attack in his first race at that level. He took the Belgian junior time trial title, and finished second in the junior time trial at the 2021 European Championships behind his compatriot Alec Segaert. Climbing and time trialling in the same package drew the inevitable early comparisons with Remco Evenepoel.

He turned professional with Bora-Hansgrohe in 2022 and won the Tour de l'Avenir that summer, adding the mountains classification to the overall. His Grand Tour debut came at the 2023 Vuelta a España, where he finished eighth at the age of twenty, one place behind his team leader Aleksandr Vlasov.

His racing has been built around the general classification. He climbs and he time trials, a combination he had as a junior, and his wins have come in stage races rather than in one-day events or bunch finishes.

The exit from Bora-Hansgrohe was fought out in public. Visma | Lease a Bike announced in December 2023 that he had signed a four-year contract, and Bora maintained he was under contract to them for 2024. The teams settled and he raced in Visma colours from 2024. At that year's Giro d'Italia he took the white jersey on stage two and held it as far as stage ten, then lost it on stage eleven and left the race before Rome.

2025 gave him almost nothing. He abandoned Tirreno-Adriatico in March, a back injury took out a long stretch of the season, and he was struck by a vehicle while training. He came back to win the Tour de l'Ain overall and finished tenth at Il Lombardia. He then left Visma a year before his contract expired, signing a four-year deal with Movistar from 2026, the second time he had changed teams early.
