Formerly known as the Critérium du Dauphiné, this prestigious 78th edition marks its rebranding to reflect its expanded reach across the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. As a primary precursor to the Tour de France, it features a brutal Alpine route, including a critical team time trial and iconic summit finishes like the Grand Colombier.

Stage 8 covered 120.1 km with four major climbs: Col du Pré, Montée de Bisanne, Col des Aravis and the 11.3 km ascent to Plateau de Solaison.
Isaac Del Toro attacked on the final climb, soloed clear to win the stage and took the overall lead as the yellow jersey changed hands.
