Sidi's new Wire 3 weighs 230g, has a stunning fluoro theme and costs €339

The top-tier road shoe uses two NUUN dials, a carbon outsole and Sidi's Firmor X wrapping system, although its weight and performance claims have yet to be independently tested.

Sidi has a new top-tier road shoe, and we are very much here for its lairy looks and racing intent. The Wire 3 arrives with a claimed weight of 230g, a €339 price and enough fit hardware to keep keen fettlers busy.

At its heart is a Micro Matrix and Kevlar upper with two NUUN 001C dials. Sidi uses different material densities across the upper, a design it says provides airflow in some areas and more support in others.

Those dials work with the Firmor X fit system, which wraps around the foot using a floating instep construction. The idea is to support the arch and spread pressure across the foot, rather than pinning it beneath the closures.

There is more tinkering available at the back. Sidi's removable heel-retention device can be manually adjusted, while the shaped heel section of the integrated insole is intended to keep the foot planted when the watts go up.

Underfoot, a nylon midsole meets Sidi's R2FC carbon outsole. The Wire 3 also offers independent cleat adjustment, though the launch material does not say how much adjustment is available or specify cleat compatibility.

The headline number is that 230g weight. It sounds competitive, but it comes with an important asterisk: Sidi has not stated the shoe size, weighing method, production tolerance or whether the insole was included. For context, the S-Works Torch Remco comes in at a claimed weight of 148g.

Sidi says the Wire 3 combines continuous airflow and targeted support with a secure, stable fit and efficient power transfer. There are no numbers to quantify that last claim, but there is no shortage of Italian panache.

Even so, the Wire 3 looks like a full-bore Sidi proposition: lots of adjustability, a carbon outsole and Italian race-shoe attitude, all for €339. The remaining practical details are less glamorous but important. Sidi has not yet provided an availability date, size range or full list of colour options.

Beyond the stats, the fluoro heel absolutely pops, and it’s hard to argue these aren’t some of the nicest shoes Sidi has released in recent years.
