Paris-Nice Favourites

Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) starts as the clear favourite for Paris–Nice. He brings the most complete stage-race profile in the field: climbing superiority, time trial power, and a team built to control key moments. Juan Ayuso (Lidl-Trek) looks the most plausible challenger, particularly if Lidl–Trek can keep him well placed through the nervier transition stages before the race turns uphill.

Behind them, the battle for the podium looks far more open. Oscar Onley (Ineos Grenadiers) is an interesting contender if the race becomes selective in the mountains, while Brandon McNulty brings stronger stage-race pedigree at WorldTour level.

When to tune into Paris-Nice

Paris-Nice serves as a form-check for the Ardennes Classics and the Grand Tours, so will promise some GC battles and clear statements of intent.

Stage 4 on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 could be one to tune in for late, with the 195km route from Bourges to Uchon ending in a puncheur uphill finish that should bring the GC riders and explosive finishers into play.

Paris-nice map

Stage 7 on Saturday, March 14, 2026 looks like one of the race’s key moments, as the 138.7km stage from Nice to Auron finishes on a long ascent to 1614m. It is short by Paris–Nice standards, but the summit finish should make it one of the most decisive days of the week.

Stage 8 on Sunday, March 15, 2026 is the traditional Nice > Nice finale, covering 129.2km of hilly terrain. Paris–Nice often remains alive until the final day, and the closing stage around Nice has a long history of aggressive racing, late attacks and last-minute GC drama.
