A Maurienne climb famous for its lower ramp, the Lacets de Montvernier — eighteen hairpins stacked into a 3 km wall, one of cycling's most photographed roads. From there the road climbs on to the Col du Chaussy; the other side falls to Montgellafrey and La Chambre.
