A broad, pastoral pass in the Beaufortain, better known as a cross-country skiing centre. Climbed from Flumet in the north or Beaufort and Villard-sur-Doron in the south, it is rarely decisive but a frequent stepping-stone in the Alps — first raced in 1979.
